PEAK DEMAND FORECAST (CONNECTED + SUPPRESSED LOAD)= 19,798.00MW @ 1400HRS

HIGHEST GENERATION=4,710.20MW@ 1400HRS

LOWEST GENERATION=4,250.48MW @ 1700HRS

Remark: Energy gap between peak demand forecast and highest generation is a pointer to the huge INVESTMENT opportunities in the power sector in Nigeria.

N.B.: This comparative data is very conservative when the energy situation in Nigeria (14,000MW installed generation capacity) is juxtaposed with nations like Brazil (181,532MW installed generation capacity) that has similar demographic characteristics.

It was observed that Brazil uses multiple generation mix like hydro, coal, solar, biomass, nuclear, gas, wind etc. Nigeria with her abundant resources for power generation is encouraged to tap into this approach for improvement of the power sector. Also, most of the existing Thermal Stations should consider modifying their Simple-Cycle Operations into Combined-Cycle for enhanced Power Generation.
