Politically speaking, it is alarming that a Rarity is fast becoming Common in the Transmission arm of the Power Sector in Nigeria. 

In the recent past, SAFETY of both personnel and equipment was top-notch in the workplace as Operators and Maintenance Crew observe very high level of Safety while carrying out their statutory functions. 

However, accidents have been recorded in stations like 330/132/33kV Birnin-Kebbi TS, 132/33kV Maryland TS and,132/33kV Dan-Agundi TS resulting into the loss of very expensive equipment  such as Transformers, Cables, etc. and avoidable inconvenience to Customers. 

The Authorities concerned must investigate the immediate and remote causes of these ugly incidents with a view to stemming same. 

Additionally, there is need to review the Staff Recruitment Process and pay maximum attention to the issues of Training and Re-training of Staff so that there will be increased observation of extant SAFETY Rules in the workplace.
